The Smithsonian Naturalist Center in Leesburg is hosting a talk on "A Bee's Eye View of Pollination, Exploring the Diversity of Bee Species and their Ecological Interactions in Eastern North America."   Eastern North America has nearly 1000 species of bees, which provide huge pollination services for both wild and cultivated plants. In this talk, Dr. T'ai Roulston will explore the diversity of bee species in our area, including their life histories, interactions with plants, and ways that they can be encouraged in our back yards. Virginia State Fair – MGACRA is looking for volunteers to staff the Virginia Master Gardener booth at the State Fair.  They are using 3-4 hour shifts. Usually everyone gets together and carpools down.  If you are interested, please contact Laurie at 582-2699.

Tree Planting Project -- The Fredericksburg Beautification Commission, in conjunction with the Maury Neighborhood Association, is holding a tree planting workshop at Maury Park (corner of Kenmore and William Streets).  There will be tips from experts (Bartlett Tree Service) on how to plant and care for a tree correctly.  Anne Little is looking for mentors to help teach and would appreciate the support.   To help, contact Anne Little at 540 373-4594.
