A fresh Boxwood Wreath Workshop was held in early December 2024, at the King George Citizens Center. For a nominal fee, 20 participants created beautiful fresh boxwood wreaths. The fresh boxwood and all other materials needed to create the wreath, plus instruction from Master Gardeners, were provided. Members of the KG Garden Club were on hand to sell embellishments for an extra charge. Bows, fresh Buford holly twigs loaded with bright red berries and various dried natural materials provided additional color and interest to the wreaths. Here are a few of the beautiful wreaths and their creators:

Coordinator Laurie Clarkston has put together a fantastic and long-term project for restoring Boxwoods in the Historic Confederate Cemetery in Fredericksburg – which is still used as a burial site by several of the area churches. The Boxwood training workshop is ongoing for Master Gardeners/trainees. We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays mostly in the afternoon. Hoping to change this to morning sessions soon. If you are interested, please contact Laure with any questions and to get on the email list of weekly updates. A weekly schedule is posted and sometimes the times and days can change to due schedules. Contact Laurie by email: [email protected], or by calling or texting @ 540-846-5357.

For the first time in several years, although we will not be hosting public Boxwood workshops, MGACRA was able to collect some healthy boxwood and create wreaths. Definitly a sign of HOPE in this difficult year!!!!
