Volunteer Opportunity at King George Native Demonstration Garden Thursdays 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29. Project Coordinators, Alvin Calhoun and Mary Ellen Green welcome all Master Gardeners/Interns and other interested parties to take part in weekly maintenance volunteer opportunities at the Native Demonstration Garden at Cedell Brooks Park (11215 Henry Griffin Rd, King George, VA 22485)Thursdays, starting at approximately 9:30 AM and ending sometime before noon. This maintenance schedule (weather permitting) will continue weeklyevery Thursday morning throughout the growing season and will end on November 20, 2025. You can earn as much or as little MG volunteer hours as you wish. Please track and enter your hours in Better Impact under MyImpact page app under Demonstration Gardens at Cedell Brooks Park at https://app.betterimpact.com/Volunteer/Hours. We ask volunteers to bring gloves, weeding tools, buckets, and personal water. 13 and 27 May: MGs Offering Classes through Fredericksburg Parks and Rec
1p.m.
Topic: Afternoon Walks through Cossey Park Arboretum.
Address: 1601 Kenmore Avenue, Fredericksburg. Adjacent to the Community Garden and Fish Pond.
Instructors: Master Gardeners will highlight the trees/shrubs in bloom. Immediately following on site there will be a short talk on a pertinent horticultural topic.
May 13 Topic: The Adventures of Rosemary & Thyme
May 27 Topic: "But, it's so pretty!" Cultivars that change the flower form.

This event is to showcase the groups in the area (Planning District 16) and the Regional Library's readership that work to create habitats to attract pollinators. You can get ideas, find out about a group you might be interested in and come learn about how you can help in your very own yard.
19 & 20 Aug 2025 - Annual Flower Show This is Free and open to the Public. Come celebrate native pollinators with activities like making a firefly that will glow in the dark! Learn about different pollinators and how they pollinate flowers. Transplant a flower* that you can take home to your own garden. *Bring the flowers you grew from your plant to the upcoming Pollinator Flower Show August 19 and 20, 2025. Check back for updates.
