Except where noted, all events and meetings are open to the public.  Some lectures and events will be offered via YouTube or ZOOM technology.  Zoom meetings/presentations will require registration prior to start date.
 The Free Lance Star and MGACRA Facebook page will also be used to post/advertise all activities.
 
All gardening, insect, plant disease, and horticultural related questions can be called into our VCE office: 540-658-8000.  The office serves the four-county area and Fredericksburg.  Additional resources are available at: ext.vt.edu where subjects of interest can be searched.

2 October: Workdays at Cedell Brooks Jr Demonstration Garden on Thursdays
  •  Volunteer Opportunity at King George Native Demonstration Garden Thursdays 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30.
     Project Coordinators, Alvin Calhoun and Mary Ellen Green welcome all Master Gardeners/Interns and other interested parties to take part in weekly maintenance volunteer opportunities at the Native Demonstration Garden at Cedell Brooks Park (11215 Henry Griffin Rd, King George, VA 22485) Thursdays, starting at approximately 9:30 AM and ending sometime before noon. This maintenance schedule (weather permitting) will continue weekly every Thursday morning throughout the growing season and will end on November 20, 2025. You can earn as much or as little MG volunteer hours as you wish. Please track and enter your hours in Better Impact under MyImpact page app under Demonstration Gardens at Cedell Brooks Park at https://app.betterimpact.com/Volunteer/Hours.  We ask volunteers to bring gloves, weeding tools, buckets, and personal water.

8 October: Workshop: How to Save Seeds: 
  • 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. 
  • Location: Rowser Building, VCE Office
  • Speaker: Renee Ford
  • Do you have seeds that you have gathered and don't know how to get to the seeds or identify the actual seed? Let's learn together!  We will help each other to clean the chaff, identify the seeds & place them in storage containers for future packing.

18 October: All Hands Master Gardener Meeting: 
  • 9 a.m - 11 a.m 
  • Rowser Building
  • This meeting will be a fun time together to discuss program updates and fellowship. Attendance is strongly encouraged. This meeting counts for two hours of volunteer time, and if you’d like an extra 30 minutes, feel free to arrive early to help us set up!

21 October: Seed Packaging and Prep:

21 October: Board of Supervisors Meeting for Stafford County: 
  • 5 p.m. 
  • Stafford County Administration Center (1300 Courthouse Road, Stafford)
  • If you’re able, we’d love to have Master Gardeners and community members attend this board meeting to show support and advocate for VCE programs.​
